A slot (plural slots) is a narrow, elongated depression, notch, or opening, especially one for receiving or admitting something, such as a coin or a paper ticket. Also: (in computing) a position in memory or on disk where a certain type of object can be stored.
In gambling, a slot machine is a type of video game that accepts cash or, in some cases, paper tickets with barcodes as payment for winning combinations.
